We just drove and enjoyed the beautiful scenary. Our dogs loved having new smells to check out, as they poked their heads out the windows, breathing in the fresh air!
We saw proud hunters with their kill on top of their truck roofs. We joked about being stuck in these mountains with these hunters....shades of "DELIVERANCE"...as we hummed the theme song from that movie!
We enjoyed seeing all the little cabins along the way that had that charm and warmth of the season. With their fireplaces ablazin and the smell of the wood smoke. We stopped to buy some apple cider at a local general store.
We decided to head on back to our homestead...it was getting dark. Little did we know on our return trip, in the darkness of the night, we would become hunters. But, would not be bringing back the prey....
So, everyone please be careful out there at night on those dark country roads!

Where I come from, we shoot them like the Good Lord intended, hunting them with a 2 ton motor vehicle is considered unsporting! Just kidding.. hope you guys are OK! we usually carry a knife in our cars to kill/gut the animal if collision happens! Hope you got some meat out of the encounter..
BD: I just wanted to get home! I'm not the gutten type...:D But, I'm sure my 2 dogs would have finished off Bambi! LOL
yikes, they do an awful lot of damage to a car. i am glad you were not hurt.
lime: Thanks...we are fine...but some people are not so lucky! :(
Next deer season I'm staying away from dark roads...:D
I'm glad you weren't hurt. Too bad about the car. And about the poor critter. I hope it didn't suffer for long.
That's pretty bad. I've also seen some gruesome pictures of deers going through windshields. You're lucky everyone was okay.
Thank Hilary...we didn't stop to see if the deer lived or not..:(
Queen Bee: Yes, we were very lucky!
I've seen those pics too...not good
