FLASH 55 FICTION FRIDAY "Unwanted"

This "55" is a reflection of a local news report from Maryland.
Two fishermen found a newborn baby in a garbage bag in the lake they were fishing on.
Police have no clues ...
"UNWANTED"
She stole the instrument from the school lab. She was only fourteen years old.
Her family would never allow it. How could she raise an unwanted child?
If she could not have it, no one will. She was selfish...
This was the perfect spot.

Gazing at the horizon, she flung the bag into the lake.

Rest In Peace, little unwanted soul...

That's to sad to even comment on. Seems you and Akelamalu were on similar wavelengths this week. I found myself hoping that the newborn you were referring to was still alive and that there was a happy ending to this story.

guess not.

And how cruelly ironic that my word verification is "watur"...

It happens every day, somewhere..What a shame.

oh god, the thing is that child was wanted by someone who would have welcomed the precious soul into their hearts and arms. this sort of thing is so utterly heart breaking.

Mojo: A very sad thing indeed. I hope the police at least find this person...I'll have to keep checking the news.

BD: I know...it is a shame.

lime: and in Maryland and most states, if you don't want the baby you can drop it off at a hospital, church or police station. this one is so sad...

Mary: I hope they find the girl/woman who did this...I'm so curious why!!

Oh that's just too sad and tragic. Sadly it happens too often. Your 55 words told the tragic tale very well Lulda. x

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, such a sad one. And yet, it happens all the time. The young minds [even the older ones] are not ready.

Thanks for stopping by my 55 today.

Akelamalu: Sad indeed...:(

G-Man: Should I worry now that you have my email? :D

Mona: I suppose it doesn't matter where you live...someone will still do this horrible thing!

Donetta Lee: Let's hope it is wanted next time around!

twm: Just when I wanted to write something funny this happens and pulls at my heart strings.

MT: Welcome sista! About time you gave me a visit...:D Sad really sad indeed!

Hootin' Anni: oops, sorry missed ya in the mix...Yes, it could have been an older person who did it...I still haven't heard anything else on the news story. Guess we'll never know! :(

:( It's so sad. It took me six years to convince my hubby to have a baby and then another two years to concieve. Every time I would hear news like that I was LIVID. How unfair.

Your words and the photo of the baby
wrenched my heart.
