Thematic Photographic #42 - "DRAB"
This was taken a few years ago around xmas time in Jim Thorpe, PA. Now, don't get me wrong, this is a lovely old building but with daylight leaving, this became a "Drab" old building!
If you haven't done it already, check out Carmi over at Written, Inc. for more thematic goodness.
When I was a kid, my grandfather taught me that light "paints" buildings differently throughout the day. We'd often sit in the park across the street from his house and talk about how the colors on the surrounding buildings and trees changed as the sun moved across the sky.
Then we'd sit and watch, and describe what it looked like.
This picture takes me right back. This lovely building reminds me so much of those in his neighborhood. Thanks for this.
g: I should go back and take a daylight - spring picture and post the difference.
Carmi: What a cool grandfather to teach you about colors. I'm so happy that I picked this pic...who knows maybe it was your grandfather guiding me to post this one! :)
the walking man: Yes, I agree I would live in it with no problem! ;)
lime: I still need to visit the jail that supposedly has the handprint on it from the prisoners/coal miners. the "Molly McGuires"
My mom lives on the other side of Jim Thorpe off 903. I just love that area. I need another trip up there soon!

Send me something please....
What a lovely building! I find it amazing what light can do for a building both when it's there and when it starts to go dark.
