FOR FRIDAYS 55

Why do we assume that the grass is greener on the other side?
What if the color is Blue?
What about Pink - hell, for that matter throw in some Purple Polka Dots.

We have all been caught up in the color game at some point in our lives.
Now it's time to seek Pure Light!

I like this. Whatever the green of the grass, whichever the side of the fence, we see it all because it is only a partial reflection of the light falling from above.

A very nice intersection of physics and metaphysics!

Ummm devotee: Metaphysics I'm good at...physics I don't know...maybe I need to study more on that subject. :D Keep stopping by.

Buffalo: I found it through you ...the 55 :D Anyway, I thought I would give it a shot.

The physics of it is that we see color in an object because it absorbs all colors except one, and reflects just that one. Sunlight containing all colors falls upon grass that is green (or blue, or polka dotted ...), and the grass absorbs everything except its own particular color. That color reflects off the grass and reaches our eye, causing us to see it as green (or blue, or polka dotted!).

Whether the grass appears greener or not, the same sunlight is hitting everywhere, which seems to me like a good metaphor.

I hope that's clearer ...
