TEA TIME - Friday's 55

The above picture reminds me of one of my grandmothers idiosyncrasies...SAVE THE TEA BAGS!
She would always make Lipton tea and it is a strong brew.
One bag may be used more than once.
She would save them in a cup on top of the stove.
She was definately "GREEN" before it was IN!

I've been helping to pack up the house contents of a semi-recently deceased woman who would put most of us Greenies to shame. She saved and collected EVERYTHING.. just in case. We feel guilty for just tossing or recycling the many unusual collections but we know nobody is ever going to use them. She probably never made use of them, but neither could she toss them.

One ingenious idea she had was for nylon stockings. She was a water colour artist and her framed paintings were strung with tightly-twisted, used stockings for hanging. There were a few dozen of them around her home and I'm happy to have inherited a few beauties - and they'll be hung with the nylon intact. That in itself is a piece of art.

I think I would have liked your grandmother. I hate throwing things out; I always try to use all the food I buy. Although I do not drink tea only when I am down with the flue, at those times I also recycle my teabags.;)
My Irish boyfriend is remarkable at recycling and saving and he has exposed me to a way of living I truly like and admire.;)
Thank you so much for stopping by my place; you have a lovely blog.;)

This so made me laugh Lulda. My 84 year old Dad likes his tea STRONG so he brews it in a pint pot and leaves the tea bags in until he's drunk it all :0

Lulda: We were always taught to use the tea bag at least two times. Just once was considered wasteful!

My mother in law saved the sleeves/bags that newspapers are slipped into. I never saw her use them for anything, but she had plenty! D
