OH WELL (Friday 55)

I'm Old and I'm cold...
Winter has settled in tonight.

As I sit by the stove in low light,
I listen to what I'm told.

I don't recognize this house...
so, I'll stay quiet as a mouse.

I hear the ringing of a bell...
I now remember the smell.

It's Christmas time again...
Oh well!

Have a Nice Trip....See you Next Fall!

This past Saturday nite I attended a party with my husband. Tis the season for drinks and merriment! Only thing is, this party did not have any alchohalic beverages served.
So, needless to say, I did not partake in any spiked cider or eggnog.

Upon arriving to the party, we decided to park on the road and walk up the long driveway.
This driveway was very long and narrow and it was very dark...being out in the country it was especially dark. As we slowly made our way up the driveway we commented on why they didn't have a few lights out for their guests. Come on people you live in a mansion...can't you spring for at least a few driveway lights?!!

We made it safely into the large, inviting home and started to feast away. When it was time to leave we slowly walked down the drive...I was commenting on how I would stay in the middle of the drive and this should be safe and easy to manuever.

As my eyes adjusted to the darkness and I finished this comment, lo and behold my foot found the only hole in the pavement. DOWN I WENT.... I managed to land on my right knee and twist my body as my left hand met the ground....my left shoulder followed and "kaplunk" their I was in a heap!!

I needed a few moments to collect myself and assess the damage. NO BROKEN BONES! Bad knee scrap and intensive muscle pulls in shoulder, arm and wrist.

Moral to this Story:
I TELL YOU GOOD PEOPLE...THE NEXT HOLIDAY PARTY I GO TO I AM GOING TO GET DRUNK....CARRY A FLASHLITE and say TO HELL WITH ALL!! BAH HUMBUG!!

TEA TIME - Friday's 55

The above picture reminds me of one of my grandmothers idiosyncrasies...SAVE THE TEA BAGS!
She would always make Lipton tea and it is a strong brew.
One bag may be used more than once.
She would save them in a cup on top of the stove.
She was definately "GREEN" before it was IN!

Lady on a Train...Friday's 55

Mrs. Tidwell rode the train home that night thinking about the tiring day she had at the laundrette.

She worked there part-time to make ends meet.

She laughed, thinking about all the odd bits of clothing people wore.

She reached into her purse, only to feel the smooth lace of the nightie someone left behind.

OH DEER!

We decided to go for a lovely Saturday country drive. We had no destination in mind.

We just drove and enjoyed the beautiful scenary. Our dogs loved having new smells to check out, as they poked their heads out the windows, breathing in the fresh air!

We drove up mountain roads encountering hunters & their dogs along the way.
We saw proud hunters with their kill on top of their truck roofs. We joked about being stuck in these mountains with these hunters....shades of "DELIVERANCE"...as we hummed the theme song from that movie!
We enjoyed seeing all the little cabins along the way that had that charm and warmth of the season. With their fireplaces ablazin and the smell of the wood smoke. We stopped to buy some apple cider at a local general store.
We decided to head on back to our homestead...it was getting dark. Little did we know on our return trip, in the darkness of the night, we would become hunters. But, would not be bringing back the prey....
OH DEER! WE HIT ONE...POOR DEER....POOR DEER...NO POOR CAR!

NO ONE WAS HURT...except the deer! NOTICE the deer hair on the car...
So, everyone please be careful out there at night on those dark country roads!
